I began my professional career in the best training ground: Agency life. At Muller+Company in Kansas City (now MBB+), I dove right in as a digital art director in the early-ish days of dot-coms. Demanding clients, long hours, and world-class creatives. I was hooked. To this day, the thrill of winning new business, developing those long-term brand partnerships, and seeing the results of our collective hard work on a national stage, keeps me coming back for more.
My love of brand then took me to Hallmark. Over the course of my tenure, I was privileged to work across many different business units. From merchandising, packaging, and print collateral, to retail promotions, digital media, and licensed goods. Hallmark was (and still is) a unique and special place, where I was able to grow for nearly a decade. It’s also one of the reasons why I have such an advanced skill set across a broad variety of disciplines today.
I pursued the leadership track, and carried those skills to a retail product development company where I led a team of three, but was still at a time in my career where I was both a workhorse and manager. I continued my growth managing a team at RPI, and then transitioned to Boeing where I was really able to hone my leadership skills. As the Senior Creative Director for the Northwest Region, I had creative oversight for an in-house team of 40. From graphic and virtual reality designers, copywriters, videographers, graphic artists, and award-winning photographers, to rendering artists who could give any Hollywood special-effects guru a run for their money, the work my team produced was world-class (and unfortunately, primarily confidential). Along the way, I also spent significant time becoming an expert in employer branding and executive communications. The past few years I've been in consumer goods with PMI/Stanley and MiiR, leading amazing teams of writers, designers, and video/motion experts.
At this stage in my career, I know what I’m really good at: I can spot talent and understand how to develop people for growth. With a solid design pedigree, I can coach from a place of experience and get hands-on when needed. I’ve been there, and done it all, but am always learning. I’m process-driven and can keep creatives on track while helping them stay motivated and engaged.
